Timberwolves at Sonics Recap
I'm going to keep this short, as I'd rather provide in depth analysis of the Clippers game (which I attended).
There are really two things that stood out to me in the Sonics game.
1) The Wolves are not very good when Kevin Garnett is on the floor. The 4-5 minutes during the beginning of the 4th quarter, while KG was on the bench, was some of the ugliest offensive execution I've seen... if it can even be called offensive execution. The Twolves shot 0-6 from the floor... all three pointers. Terrible. KG came back in and made a baseline fadeaway 16 seconds later. I think anytime KG is on the bench, Anthony Carter NEEDS to be running the point. He seems the be the only guy besides KG who has any clue about how to set up someone else for an easy shot.
2) Something is not right with KG. Only 7 rebounds for the 2nd straight game... and this early in the season. He was grabbing closer to 17 a game to start the last two seasons. Back in the day, when there was a rebound up high above a crowd of players, KG would sky up and pick it off before anyone else had a chance. The last to games, he's just been in that crowd as a spectator, hardly even jumping for the ball. He is also a step slow on D... letting his man drive by him somewhat regularly. I really hoope it's his ankle and is still healing. Because if his knees are already giving him problems... that is a bad, bad, bad sign.
